Wind Energy
Today's changing energy landscape is bringing more attention to renewable energy resources, including wind. Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative supports generation that is safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally responsible.
Interconnecting with your co-op
With the increased attention on renewable energy sources, our members are asking more questions about wind energy and the possibility of connecting to the power grid.
When considering the installation of a wind generator, key issues are
safety, reliability and integrity of the power grid and
fairness in terms of cost to other members.
Whenever generation is connected to the power grid, the safety of Cooperative employees, members and the general public must be given top priority. In addition, the wind turbine owner must meet certain requirements to allow the Cooperative to maintain the reliability of the power grid and to ensure any associated costs are not imposed on other members. Before investing in a wind turbine, you should meet with an ACEC representative to gain an understanding of the expectations for both the Cooperative and owner. For more information, call or e-mail

Supporting Renewable Energy
- Evergreen
If you're interested in supporting renewable energy by encouraging future development and growth of renewable energy projects, but have no interest in buying a system of your own, we invite you to participate in our
Evergreen program as a low cost option.
